Port Said Criminal Court sentences prominent Muslim Brotherhood leaders including the group’s Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and top leaders Mohamed El-Beltagi and Safwat Hegazi to life imprisonment during its Saturday session on 22 August. Mohamed Badie and his co-defendants were accused of inciting violence in the case of storming police station in the city of Port Said in August 2013, in the wave of pro-Morsi protests nationwide held after Morsi’s ouster and pro-Morsi sit in dispersals.

Minor clashes occurred in Cairo and in several other Egyptian cities on Friday 14 August, as Muslim Brotherhood and Mohamed Morsi supporters gathered for the second anniversary of violent dispersal of sit-ins in Cairo’s Rabaa Al-Adaweya and Al-Nahda squares.

Two years ago Egyptian security and Armed Forces have dispersed massive pro-Morsi and pro-Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins in Cairo’s Nasr City, on the Rabaa Al-Adaweya Square, and on Al-Nahda Square in Giza, as the massive crackdown of Islamists followed these events throughout the country.

Cairo Criminal Court has sentenced Mohamed Badie, Muslim Brotherhood’s Supreme Guide, and 13 other leading Muslim Brotherhood figures to death on Monday, 16 March. Mohamed Badie and other 13 defendants were accused of inciting murder and violence and provoking chaos in the country after Islamist backed President Mohamed Morsi was dispersed in 2013. This case is publicly known as “Rabaa Operations Room”, referring to the massive Rabaa Al-Adaweya protests of Muslim Brotherhood’s and Morsi’s supporters.

51 people, leading Muslim Brotherhood figures, among them Mohamed Badie and other 13 defendants accused on Monday, were referred to trial since April 2014. This case is headed by the Judge Nagy Shehata, who is presiding also over four other high-profile cases, including the former Al-Jazeera’s journalists’ trial.

Cairo’s Court to take a decision regarding fate of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood on Monday

After Egyptian leftist Tagammu Party filed the lawsuit against Muslim Brotherhood demanding the 85-years old Islamist group to be officially disbanded, Cairo Court for urgent matters which is responsible for this case declared the decision regarding the fate of Muslim Brotherhood will be taken on Monday, 23 September.

The lawsuit demanded not only the dissolution of the Muslim Brotherhood but also confiscation of all the group’s funds and banning all the activities of the group as it is being accused of the connection to the militant groups.

New protests and demonstrations organized by Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and Alliance in Support of Legitimacy calling for the reinstatement of Mohamed Morsy as Egypt’s President have been held in Cairo, Alexandria, Suez and some other Egyptian cities.

Alliance in Support of Legitimacy have been calling for the week long protests to start since Friday, 20 September, and called the demonstration “Youth is the pillar of Revolution” to mark also the beginning of the new academic year for the students in the country.

Egypt’s Security Forces have started early on Wednesday, 14 August, the operation in order to disperse two main Muslim Brotherhood’s and pro-Morsi sit-ins in Cairo, located in Nasr City Rabaa Al-Adaweya Square and in Giza’s Al-Nahda Square.

Violent clashes erupted between the CSF forces and Muslim Brotherhood’s supporters who remained defiant and have been throwing the rocks and stones at the police forces, there have been also reports of the Morsi’s supporters using live ammunitions, birdshots and other weapons as well.

Egypt’s “Rebel” group which backed the popular 30 June revolution ousted Mohamed Morsy has called on the eve of Eid for the mass celebrations of the holiday in Tahrir Square in Cairo and in the squares of other Egyptian cities.
