Egypt's interim Cabinet plans to hold first meeting on Sunday

Egypt’s recently formed and sworn in interim government headed by prominent and internationally renowned economist and liberal Hazem El-Beblawy plans to hold the first ministerial meeting on Sunday, 12 July, reports MENA news agency.

This Cabinet is a part of the roadmap for the closest political future of Egypt proposed by Egypt’s Armed Forces after the country’s first democratically elected President Mohamed Morsy who hails from Muslim Brotherhood was ousted by military decree amid the massive protests all over Egypt’s against his rule.

The new Cabinet consists mostly from technocrats and liberal and leftist figure with some ministers from the previous government of Hesham Qandeel. There is no representatives of Egypt’s Islamist forces among the members of the interim government as Islamist forces refused to negotiate and cooperate with the new interim President and demand reinstatement of Mohamed Morsy and cancelling of all the recent decisions of Armed Forces.

According to MENA ministerial sources reported the first meeting of the ministers was delayed after the Cabinet was sworn in on Tuesday, 16 July, in attempt to give the new ministers some time to overview and to study the situation in their sectors and the priorities of their future activities on their posts.

It’s worth mentioning that several Egyptian ministers, members of the new interim government have already made some statements regarding their respective activities and priorities. The main agenda of the new government will be economical situation and security in the country, according to the ministerial source.
