Egypt’s oppositional National Salvation Front will participate in the National Dialog if their demands will be met

After Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsy announced the seventh National Dialog to be held in Egypt several oppositional forces have announced their intention to participate in the meeting aimed to discuss the controversial issues of the state’s policy in order to find the solution in the current political crisis in Egypt.

Egyptian President has been initiated the meetings named National Dialogs after the political crisis has deepened in the country due to the controversial presidential decrees, the draft of the Constitution and the referendum which was strongly criticized by the country’s opposition. All the political factions of Egypt have been invited to take part in the negotiations but the oppositional forces headed by the umbrella organization National Salvation Front (leaders Mohamed El Baradei, Amr Moussa and Hamdeen Sabbahy) used to reject the invitations and boycotted the meeting claiming they are completely pointless in the current situation in the country.

It was announced at the beginning of the week that several oppositional forces including eight members of the National Salvation Front are expected to participate in the seventh National Dialog initiated by Mohamed Morsy. Egypt’s former Vice-President Mahmoud Mekki has announced it in his statement made during the meeting dedicated to the upcoming meeting of the state’s political forces scheduled for 9 January.

The representatives of Egypt’s National Salvation Front in their turn have issued a statement on Thursday, 3 January 2013, where they announce that the group will join the National Dialog talks under the four main conditions.

Here are those conditions:

1. President and his aides have to reveal and announce the names of all the members expected to participate in the National Dialog talks before the beginning of the negotiations.

2. There should be made a clear and detail list of all the points and issues to be discussed during the meeting.

3. All the braches of Egypt’s executive power should officially confirm that they are committed to everything agreed upon in the meeting.

4. Egypt’s President should guarantee that all the recommendations of the National Dialog will be applied.

The seventh National Dialog talks are expected to be held on 9 January 2013 and all the political powers of the country including the opposition are invited to participate in the dialog aimed to find the common points and to unite in attempt to finally restore the stability in the country. The main issued of the upcoming negotiations is the new parliamentary election’s law. 

According to the Presidency, the law will be discussed by the political forces of the countries to enable them to make some amendments to it before the law will be sent to the Shura Council for its approval.
