On the 100th day of his presidency Egyptian President Mohamed
Morsy issued an official pardon for all political prisoners convicted and
imprisoned during the January 25 Revolution days and the following transitional
period.
The release of all Egyptian citizens arrested and facing the military
trials was one of the key demands of the revolutionary forces. Mohamed Morsy
ordered to pardon all the citizens who were arrested during the period of the
protests since 25 January 2011 and till the 30 June 2012 when the President was
inaugurated.
The presidential pardon of the political prisoners includes all the
persons currently facing the trials and all those who have already received
their sentences and serving jail terms. The pardon does not include the persons
convicted of murder.
