Foreign troops in Afghanistan |
An Afghan police Commander and several of his officers
killed three US soldiers in Helmand, southern province of Afghanistan. The
American soldiers were invited to attend the dinner together with the police
commander and his men and then were shot during the meal, according to
Afghanistan’s officials. The incident happen early on Thursday.
All the three US soldiers were the members of Special
Forces and were for the meeting in the area, where it appeared to be a planned
attack of Afghan rogue forces.
Afghan official told that the police officers just
shot the soldiers and then fled, and the Police Commander was in charge of
local police in the district Sangin. The official was speaking on condition of anonymity
because he wasn’t authorized to talk to media. The official also said it seems
that there was a plan to kill those soldiers.
Such situations are not uncommon in Afghanistan, when
the local police representatives started to shoot and attack the Western
forces, and it deteriorated the situation in the region and eroded trust
between the allies, as NATO forces are preparing to leave Afghanistan till
2014.
According to NATO,
there have been 24 such attacks this year since January, resulted in killing of
28 people, not including Thursday’s attack.
